Sarah and the Red Maple Leaf Dress.

I met Sarah over a year ago in Vancouver and I have had the pleasure of visiting her in Montreal.
This time hunting in the forest for mushrooms and just her bright energy when she spoke inspired me to photograph her amongst the vibrant red maple leafs.
I waited for the leaves to turn red. They did. Very slowly.
Eventually, I gathered all the red leaves I could find and made her this dress.
With the light fading fast, the leaves drying out and a lovely wind to add to the day.

The 2012 Betsey and Kerry Discovery (Kuujjuaq)

In 2011 I had the pleasure of meeting some new friends in Kuujjuaq on my way to work in camp. The town is small and the land is vast. Their entertainment largely consists of driving around on whatever you have. I visted once again, this time without a snowstorm. The sun went down quickly and the remainder of the memories are captured in my memory. Thanks again.

The 2012 Betsey and Kerry discovery (Ottawa)

The journey was near. The heat lasting. My head pounding. Betsey putzing despite her newly added parts and lubricants. I left anyhow, Yogi and friend to catch a ride to his family in Ottawa. Many teachings, many learning. The sky expansive, blackflies a plenty and an occasional warm home along the way.

I dont seem to be much of a blogger. Spend alot of my time reflecting on ideas, with little ability to put those thoughts into words. I guess thats why photography appeals to me. Though, I limit myself. I am learning that photography is objectification of my ideas, and those around. me. This concept is fearful to me as, I struggle with the desire to honor and not objectify those around me yet still communicate vulnerability, raw beauty and intimacy in both the western medical world and my photography.

Community Garden

I am a woman of many hats. I really dont like to do anything all the time, so I become the dabbler of everything. And spring makes me feel a little manic.... So why not head up a community garden built with raised beds on a parking lot? Yeah its actually pretty awesome but difficult to organize among the other things to do.

Crazy 8s Festival

I had the pleasure of a crash course in Stills Photography for the filming of 6 film short film productions for the Crazy 8s festival in Vancouver
I spent about an hour at each set capturing a brief inside view of the films that will be showing in one week, a little Kerry Rae postproduction to put my own edge on them. Pretty excited to see how these brief moments become a story.  Still Photography Promo shots

So I guess my new home is big enough to set up studio. This delights me. I have a lovely friend, Buttercup (sometimes known as Aaron Malkin  quit his desktop and plans to pursue life in the realms of passionate activities. He recently discovered his penchant for clowning and asked me to do some promo shots for him.  Heres one of them.
